Improve Health on a Global Scale Through an Online Global Health Certificate
The Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill offers an online global health certificate through its Public Health Leadership Program. Open to working professionals with a bachelor’s degree, this globally-focused program offers a formal academic certificate for students who are not currently seeking a degree.
As a student in the online global health certificate program, you will have opportunities to improve your leadership skills in the face of global health challenges.
With an interdisciplinary focus that examines the complexities of improving health on a global scale, this online graduate certificate aims to strengthen the network of public health practitioners in North Carolina, across the nation, and around the world.
Throughout the course of the Online Global Health Certificate program, you will focus on three main goals: sharing knowledge, developing a collaborative learning approach and expanding your global focus to improve skills for addressing global health issues.
You will take one 3-credit, graduate-level course per term, for a total of 9 credits over three terms.
The Online Global Health Certificate comprises the following three courses:
Critical Issues in Global Health: Through an interdisciplinary perspective, explore contemporary controversies, issues and problems in global health. Examine the many factors that work together to impact global health, analyze disparities in global health and explore global health work and research. This course is the first in the sequence, and is required for all the other courses in the Online Global Health Certificate Program.
Global Health Ethics: Discover theoretical and practical aspects of public health ethics while developing your analytical skills. Evaluate issues related to public health policy, justice, interacting with communities and professional conduct.
Monitoring and Evaluation of Global Health Programs: Explore the fundamental concepts and tools for monitoring and evaluating public health programs. Public health programs discussed will include HIV/AIDS/STDs, maternal and reproductive health, child health, environment and nutrition.
